Good Friday success

Several lovely things happened on Good Friday.

First, it was wonderful to return to St Peter’s Vauxhall, one of the locations of our double-debut in Holy Week last year, and where many of our homepage publicity shots were taken. And it was highly atmospheric by candlelight.

Musical highlights were singing Allegri’s Miserere spezzati and unconducted; Rheinberger Agnus Dei; a simple arrangement of Love Unknown (Ireland) and a nuanced interpretation of Faire is the Heaven.

We sang, possibly, the UK premier of Terry Schlenker’s Alleluia — which was very well received, sung ‘in the round’ as a final item — and met his lovely friend from the US, Barbara Tennis.

That piece inspired Jay to introduce himself after and ask if we would be available to collaborate on the staging of a ‘morality play’ at St Peter’s laer in the year as part of his PhD. We’ve said yes, so watch this space.

And Will Fraser, the director of music declared us ‘welcome any time’, which is always nice to hear, so we will definitely be back for more.

And then we had a curry… with red wine.
