Rachmaninov Vespers
8:00pm, Thursday 25 November 2021
St Gabriel's Pimlico

A collaboration with St Gabriel’s Pimlico, we perform Rachmaninov’s a cappella sacred music masterpiece, the All-Night Vigil (popularly known as The Vespers).

Movement number 6, filmed for BBC4:

The full documentary can be viewed on YouTube (below) – our appearance begins around 30 mins in.

In 2017, the centenary of the Russian Revolution we performed a programme of Russion music set around a narrative by Rufus Stilgoe on an imagined meeting between Rachmaninov and Arthur Ransome.

We performed the Vespers again in 2020 in Canterbury Cathedral, and this will be our third complete performance.
