Glowing review and videos from the Joy & Devotion Polish festival
We loved getting to know several new pieces by contemporary composers for the Joy & Devotion festival – nearly a full week celebration of sacred choral and organ music from Poland, in which we sang the closing concert. The Carice Singers who sang the previous evening were reviewed very favourably in the Church Times.
The Church Times said:
“None of this music is easy to sing, with its complex chords, tricky rhythms, and sometimes unusual technical demands. Both groups blended and balanced beautifully, alert to the conductor and to each other with beauty of tone, accurate intonation, and depth of feeling. If the Epiphoni Consort did not have quite the burnished perfection of their full-time professional counterparts, they weren’t far off.”
