Epiphoni perform Bach with Roderick Williams, John Butt and the City of London Sinfonia

This Autumn, The Epiphoni Consort reunite with City of London Sinfonia — with whom we performed a programme of Arvo Pärt in November 2017 — for three performances in their “Bach and the Cosmos“.

We could not be more thrilled to announce our participation in this, one of our most exciting collaborations to date.

The multi-talented Roderick Williams will conduct the choir in Singet Dem Herrn, a fifteen-minute tour de force and surely amongst JS Bach’s most virtuosic writing for choir. The programme, in which Williams also performs as a baritone soloist, features his own composition, Enough, alongside Nystedt’s Immortal Bach in two re-imaginings of the great master’s music.

Oxford mathematician James Sparks explores Bach’s incredible use of maths and numbers, the language of the cosmos, with a visual explanation of the relationships contained within.

This programme is performed twice, first in London on Tuesday 16th October at the newly re-opened Queen Elizabeth Hall, and again in Bradford on Avon at the Wiltshire Music Centre on Sunday 21st October.

As if that wasn’t enough Bach for one week, Epiphoni will be performing the B Minor Mass on Saturday 20th October at Southwark Cathedral this time directed by leading Bach interpreter John Butt and with an array of international soloists (including Roderick Williams!).
