Benedict Hastings introduces the audience to the text of Everyone Sang by Sassoon… before everyone sang it.

The concert proceeds with David Bednall’s Three Songs of Love – exquisite settings of Poetry by McCrae, Yeats and Clare.

The interval affords us an opportunity to browse the wonderful (and apt) art exhibition by Derek Hare – oil paintings of seascapes and skylines.

Before the evening’s finale, a short interview with the composer and conductor…

…during which the conductor accidentally reveals his mercenary motivations for recording the premiere of 40-part motet, Lux Orta Es Iusto…

…and the composer reveals his devious way of getting sopranos to sing high notes on final chords, namely to put them in brackets and mark them as optional!
